My serial, Donald of Mars, is now up to 84 episodes

A few years back, I began writing the serial Donald of Mars on Kindle Vella. Vella is closed, but I’ve kept the story going in other places. The main idea behind it was to have not some grand science fiction adventure, or romance or horror set on a Mars colony but to give people a much more realistic idea of what living in the early years in one of the first Mars Colonies might be like. It is mundane people dealing with the mundane problems that will come with living in a closed system, a small city buried under the sands of Mars. There are no aliens, no super technology to solve all the problems. Just Donald and everyone he interacts with going about their business of living in a closed city and what it will be like. But like everyone on Earth, his life isn’t simple or straightforward. He has preconceived ideas about others, as do everyone else that he has to live and work with brought from all over the world.

In episode 84, one of those people that are part of his life has just been approved to bear one of the first, and possibly the very first, child on Mars. Being the first will have lots of emotional ups and downs for that person and all those close to her.

The story is behind a pay wall on Substack, Ream stories and Patreon, with the first ten episodes up for free. Ream has a one month free using the Promo Code: KARA, and Patreon has a buy once option if either of those is your preference. Substack gets you my newsletter and access to what I am putting up on the Substack notes. Chose a place and read it, and tell me what you think of my interpretation of what it may be like.
