Photo Books are Expensive
Print on demand books cost more to print than the large batch printing publishers do. That is even more so of hardbound photo books. It is always hard to make anything off of photo books and even harder to do online. People need to look through them before deciding if they are worth it. That is why I have decided to put up PDF copies of the two that I have available for $0.99 in my shop for download. While the hardback books are listed in several places through the different printing companies, the PDFs can only be bought here.
The first and shorter one, Ten years in Aguilar, Pangasinan and Surrounding Areas: A photo record 2015-2025 is $34.99. You can get the PDF for just $0.99 to see if you want it. As the Title suggests, it is a collection of Photos taken by me and my wife in the town of Aguilar. I am only using a single publisher for printing the hardbound one, Lulu Press, for this one, though they are in the process of listing it in several places.
The second one is just called Book. I decided I was going to publish a plain white book titled Book several years back, and here it is. It only has my name added to the front with the title because that is the requirement for easy approval for publishing. My idea was only one word on the outside. This one is longer and has photos from both the Philippines and my native Kentucky. It being longer, it cost more to print, and goes for $37.99 in my shop and the other places that carry it. It has three parts: Sun and Shadow, Water and Reflection, and Flowers; with some of the Flower photos being done by my wife Maridonna. Again, if you want to look through it, the PDF is just $0.99. The printed copies of this one are being printed by three different publishers, Lulu, Amazon and IngramSpark, and it is the Lulu one available as a hardbound on my site. The printing requirements are slightly different for each company, with the Amazon one being slightly smaller, so the books are not quite identical, though all come from the same PDF.
So if photo books are your thing, see if either are worth adding to your collection and help Donna and I get a better camera.
