Renegade on Kara: The Great Basin, is Now Published

After a lot of rewriting, I’ve finally published the first book in the saga of Roger and his dragon, Jason, Renegade on Kara: The Great Basin. This story is set thousands of years into the future, and more than a thousand years after a space-faring human race finds the artificially created universe that someone made impossibly long ago. An unknown race created that universe with an infinite surface that they could do magic in. Like numerous races before them, humans found it and colonized it. This story starts 1000 years after humans find it.

On one such colony, Roger is a self-absorbed, egotistical college kid in his last year of studying advanced magic, with far more talent than is good for him. He fights an illegal duel with someone even more egotistical and self-absorbed than he. As a result of his bad choices, he has to flee, but getting beyond the reach of the nearly all-powerful, AI backed, law enforcement and their bio-engineered Dragon Legions is damn near impossible.

There is one place where that may be possible, where technology will not work, but people like him are forbidden. Going there is a one-way trip, and if they find out he’s there, they’ll have him killed. But he sees the chance and goes. There, for the first time in his life, Roger is exposed to non-humans, the lies he was taught about them, and other things. But his only real chance to live is to get well beyond the reach of humans and their government.

This book is available in paperback or digital format at Barnes & Noble
